Welcome for Aprenticeship Summit

Paul Martin MSP (picured on the left with apprentices from (GlasgoCity Building said " welcomed tomorrow's Apprenticeship Summit, which will take place in Edinburgh, as an opportunity for the Scottish government to hear firsthand how best to increase the number of apprenticeships in Scotland.“This apprenticeship summit will be the first time that all sides of industry from across Scotland have come together to explore how best to support apprenticeship training in Scotland."There are some key issues that the summit needs to address -particularly around occupational segregation, help for small businesses in taking on apprentices and support for increasing adult apprenticeships. "The summit provides a first class opportunity to get ideas on the table but ultimately the Scottish Government needs to do everything it can to support businesses to take on apprentices and to help those who may be facing redundancy.
"This is about doing the work now to ensure the long-term health of the Scottish economy."
