New dawn for housing in the North    02/04/08tenement

Tenants, councillors and an MSP were among guests at community event to mark a new dawn for housing in North Glasgow.  Glasgow Housing Association is building 239 new homes to help re-house tenants living in properties earmarked for demolition in the Red Road and Sighthill regeneration areas.

The £24.5million development is part of GHA’s city-wide regeneration programme that will supply 2,800 homes for GHA tenants.  Up to 25 tenants who were involved in deciding the design and specification of the new homes attended the recent event, organised by GHA.

Other guests included Springburn MSP Paul Martin, representatives of Campbell Construction Group – who are building the new properties, members of the GHA board and other agency partners.

Taroub Zahran, GHA’s chief executive, and Sandra Forsythe, tenant chairperson of the GHA board, said a few words and Mr Martin delivered a speech.
