Paul along with North Glasgow Housing Association launched a free community transport initiative for senior citizens and people with a disability living in the Carron area of Springburn.  The twice weekly pilot service will be provided in partnership with the North Area Transport Association (NATA).

Paul said: “I would commend the association for bringing forward this community transport initiative for people in the Carron area.  From my experience transport is an issue that is often in the top three concerns raised with elected members.  Not only will the scheme bring much needed improvements to transport facilities for local people – it will also promote community spirit with many residents now being able to shop together.”

Chief Executive of North Glasgow Housing Association Robert Tamburrini said: “We are delighted to be able to provide this new service as we know how important transport is to local people.  We pride ourselves on being more than a housing association and will continue to look at additional ways that we can bring improvements to the local community through wider activities such as this.”

The service operates on Tuesdays from Carron Community Lounge (9 Carron Crescent) to Tesco St Rollox from 9.30am and approx every 30minutes thereafter, until the final pick up from the store at 1.30pm.

A further service operates on a Friday from the Carron Community Lounge to ASDA Robroyston from 9.30am and approx every 30minutes thereafter until the final pick up from the store at 1.30pm.

There will also be a single service on the first Thursday of every month to city centre shops departing at 9.30am and returning at 1.30pm.
